- Prep Time: 10 min
- Cook Time: Approximately 4 per crêpe min
Ingredients
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the Caputo “00” Baking Flour, eggs, melted butter, water, and milk. For sweet crêpes, add the granulated sugar. Whisk until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
- Place an 8-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. There is no need to grease the pan, as the melted butter in the batter helps create delicate, silky crêpes without excess oil or greasiness.
- Pour approximately ¼ cup of batter into the center of the hot skillet. Immediately lift and swirl the pan to distribute the batter into a thin, even layer, covering the bottom of the skillet.
- Allow the crêpe to cook for approximately 2 minutes, until the edges begin to lift and the bottom is lightly golden. Carefully flip and cook for another 2 minutes on the opposite side.
- Transfer the cooked crêpe to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, stacking the finished crêpes as you go.
- Fill or top your crêpes with your favorite sweet or savory ingredients. Fold, roll, or serve them open-faced, and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- This recipe can be made with Caputo Gluten Free Flour! Be sure to check out that recipe here: Gluten Free Crepes.
- Sweet Crêpes: Add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the batter for a subtly sweet base, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
- Sweet Filling Ideas: Try freshly whipped cream, strawberries, bananas, jam, chocolate hazelnut spread, or a light dusting of powdered sugar.
- Savory Filling Ideas: Skip the sugar and fill your crêpes with cheese, ham, eggs, sautéed spinach, or your favorite savory ingredients.
- No Additional Oil Needed! The melted butter incorporated into the batter helps the crêpes cook without additional oil or butter in a good nonstick skillet.
- Practice Makes Perfect: Just like pancakes, the first crêpe is rarely the prettiest! Use it to adjust your pan temperature and technique before cooking the rest of the batch.
